21–27 September 2026 | FSC® Forest Week
Forests are pretty important. They help create oxygen for us to breathe, support biodiversity, provide homes, and play a huge role in keeping our planet healthy.
But what can one person, or one business, actually do to help?
This FSC Forest Week, we’re taking inspiration from the theme “Do one thing for forests.”
Because you don’t have to do everything. You can do one thing.

What is FSC® Forest Week?
FSC® Forests Week is a global awareness campaign by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) that celebrates forests and promotes responsible forest management. It encourages people to support sustainably sourced products and protect forests worldwide. During the week, businesses, communities, and individuals around the world take part in activities that highlight why forests matter and how we can protect them.
In 2026, FSC Forest Week runs from 21–27 September, with this year’s campaign encouraging FSC certificate and license holders, businesses and consumers to find, do and share their one thing for forests.
The idea is simple: small actions can add up to a big collective impact.
As an FSC Chain of Custody holder, Synergy Pacific is proud to be part of the FSC community and to use Forest Week as an opportunity to encourage our customers, partners and team to think about what they can do for forests.

So, what’s our one thing?
At Synergy Pacific (Whisper), we’re giving something that would normally end up in the bin a new lease on life.
We’re taking empty toilet paper rolls and planting them with herbs and plants, turning them into the beginnings of a little garden for our kitchen.
It’s a simple activity, but it’s a great reminder that sometimes doing something for the environment starts with looking at what we already have and asking:
“Can we give this another purpose?”
And hopefully, in a little while, we’ll have a kitchen full of fresh herbs to show for it! This will also act as a reminder to our team about our commitment to FSC.

What could your one thing be?
Your one thing doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
🌱 Give something a second life
Get creative with items that would normally be thrown away.
Just like our toilet roll herb garden, try repurposing packaging, containers or other everyday items into something useful. It could even be a fun activity for the office or workplace.

🌳 Choose FSC-certified products
One of the simplest things you can do is look for the FSC logo when purchasing paper and other forest-based products.
FSC certification is your assurance that forests and supply chains are independently audited. By choosing FSC-certified products, you support responsible forest management that helps protect biodiversity, upholds workers’ and Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and promotes transparency and accountability in forest supply chains.

This is something that’s particularly close to home for us. Which is why we offer FSC-certified products for our Whisper range and private label options.

🎋 Look beyond traditional tree-based products
FSC certification isn't limited to conventional wood fibre.
Our Whisper Bamboo Better range is a great example of another way to think about paper products.
Made from bamboo fibre, the range provides an alternative to traditional tree-based paper products while delivering the performance expected from commercial hygiene paper. To find out more about the benefits of bamboo, check out our article here.
It’s another option for businesses looking to make more considered choices across their washroom and hygiene supplies.

🎨 Create your own FSC-certified private label range
If you're a wholesaler, distributor or looking to create your own branded hygiene products, why not make them FSC certified?
Through our private label manufacturing capabilities, Synergy Pacific can help businesses develop their own branded hygiene paper products, including FSC-certified options.
It’s an opportunity to create a product range that reflects your brand while giving your customers the option to choose FSC-certified products.

One thing can make a difference
It can be easy to think that one small action won't make much difference.
But that's exactly what FSC Forest Week is about.
One business choosing FSC-certified products.
One office planting a herb garden.
One customer asking where their toilet paper comes from.
One brand choosing FSC certification for its private label range.
Individually, they're small actions. Collectively, they can help create a much bigger impact.
But why choose FSC-certified products?
Choosing FSC-certified products is about more than simply putting a logo on a packet.
By choosing FSC-labelled products, you show your commitment to forests and those that depend on them. Independent, third-party evaluations confirm that the forest-based material in FSC-certified products comes from well-managed, FSC-certified forests, and/or recycled, and/or controlled sources. FSC certification mitigates the risk of forest products contributing to illegal logging, human rights violations, and the destruction of
critical ecosystems.
Your purchase supports transparency and accountability in forest supply chains.

Healthy, responsibly managed forests can:
-
🌍 Help combat climate change by capturing and storing carbon
-
🦜 Support biodiversity and provide habitats for plants and wildlife
-
👥 Support communities and people who depend on forests
-
🌱 Encourage responsible forest management
-
🔎 Give businesses and consumers greater confidence in the sourcing of forest-based products
FSC Forest Week highlights these benefits and encourages people to recognise how their everyday choices can contribute to positive outcomes for forests.
What exactly is FSC®?
FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council.
It is a global organisation that promotes responsible management of the world's forests through certification.
There are two key parts to FSC certification:
FSC Forest Management certification
FSC Forest Management Certification confirms that forests are managed in a way that protects biodiversity, supports local communities and workers, and remains economically viable. FSC certification requires forest managers to maintain or enhance High Conservation Values (HCVs), including rare, threatened and endangered species, important ecosystems and habitats, and critical ecosystem services. Certified forest managers must conserve, restore or enhance these ecosystem services while avoiding, mitigating or remedying negative environmental impacts. FSC certification also requires forest owners and managers to recognise and uphold Indigenous Peoples’ rights, including rights to land ownership, land use and access to natural resources. Conformity is checked through independent, third-party audits with public summary reports.

FSC Chain of Custody certification
FSC Chain of Custody Certification means that Synergy Pacific, and other organisations, uphold strict protection for workers’ rights throughout our supply chain. Independent third-party evaluations confirm that we meet FSC’s core labour requirements, which means we do not use child or forced labour, do not discriminate, and respect and uphold the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
It also means that Synergy Pacific’s FSC-certified supply chain, along with those of its supply chain partners, is fully traceable from forest to final product, supporting responsible forestry practices. FSC Chain of Custody certification provides assurance that the materials used in our FSC-certified products come from responsibly managed FSC-certified forests, recycled sources, or other controlled sources. Compliance is verified through regular independent, third-party audits.
